The JPSS project plans to remove the Suomi-NPP CrIS instrument Field of View (FOV) number 6 from the direct broadcast beginning on 3 August 2015. The tentative time window to begin this removal is scheduled to be between 16:06 and 16:16 UTC. They are doing this to ensure the full availability of Stored Mission Data (SMD) from the spacecraft – this step will mitigate a possible overflow condition of the shared DB//SMD buffer memory. We do not believe this will affect the CSPP CrIS SDR processing. No updates will be required.
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Cheers,
Kathy

Re: S-NPP CrIS Direct Broadcast Removal of FOV #6
We have been informed by JPSS that CrIS FOV 6 will be removed from the Suomi NPP HRD broadcast tomorrow, August 18, sometime after the SMD playback scheduled for AOS at 16:23:21.
We expect that the CSPP SDR processing will proceed normally, with the only impact being the absence of valid data for FOV 6 in the SDR product files.
Please let us know if you have any problems.
Regards,
Liam.
