Please can you post the exact command line you used. I am a bit confused about the error message. If you get this message at all, it should look like, for example:
WARNING: NUCAPS_Preproc.pl failed for /data/jimd/CSPP_NUCAPS_2_0/work/TMP_Wx_NIP/swath_001/granule_001 at /data/jimd/CSPP_NUCAPS_2_0/scripts/nucaps_granule.pl line 119.
I suspect you swapped in $CSPP_NUCAPS_HOME for (your version of) /data/jimd/CSPP_NUCAPS_2_0 when you sent in the report, yes? But made a mistake when you swapped it in the last part of the message, i.e. $CSPP_NUCAPS_HOME/CSPP_NUCAPS_2_0/scripts/nucaps_granule.pl
To help me resolve, please can you re-run with the --noclean switch and tar up the temporary working directory and put it somewhere I can fetch it. If you still have directory TMP_OPoq8O, just tar that up.
Our supported platform is CentOS6. I also tested on CentOS7. So this may be a problem I cannot resolve for you. A common source for problems is system incompatibility in the dynamic libraries provided in $CSPP_NUCAPS_HOME/lib/. Replacing some or all of those with versions known to work on your system may resolve.
We appreciate the feedback. The package that you reference, NUCAPS Version 2.0, is an older version now.
The NUCAPS software has been replaced by the NOAA Hyper-Spectral Enterprise Algorithm Package (HEAP) package, which produces NUCAPS retrievals for a number of different satellite/sensor combinations.
Please see the CSPP website for more information about HEAP.
