As described in a previous email, a new leap second adjustment will be made to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) starting on 1 July 2015. This affects several Community Satellite Processing Package (CSPP) software packages, including the Microwave Integrated Retrieval System (MIRS) for ATMS, AMSU-A, and MHS microwave sensor data. Instructions were provided previously for updating the CSPP SDR, VIIRS EDR, VIIRS Imagery EDR and CSPP-ASCPO software packages (see CSPP Forum entry: viewtopic.php?f=38&t=574 ). This email provides instructions for updating the CSPP-MIRS software package.
We strongly recommend that you perform this update prior to the 1 July change. Please follow the instructions below to update the CSPP-MIRS software package on the computers where it is installed. Linux terminal commands included in these instructions assume the bash shell is used.
CSPP MIRS
cd $CSPP_MIRS_HOME/cspp_mirs_r3259/bin
mv rdr2tdr_npp_atms rdr2tdr_npp_atms.old
wget ftp://ftp.ssec.wisc.edu/pub/CSPP/leapse ... r_npp_atms
chmod guo+x rdr2tdr_npp_atms (to ensure that it is executable)
MIRS development is led by Sid-Ahmed Boukabara at the NOAA NESDIS Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR).
Please feel free to contact us with any comments or questions you may have.
