NOAA-20 VIIRS Lunar Calibration (no Roll Maneuver) Feb. 12, 2022
NOAA-20 VIIRS lunar calibration with sector rotation (encoder offset) is scheduled for February 12, 2022.
The lunar observation will be centered at 2:28:58 UTC.
5 min. VIIRS SDR/EDR impacted period: 2:26:26 to 2:31:30 UTC (sector rotation)
During the sector rotation:
- VIIRS onboard calibrators and Earth view sectors data acquisitions are shifted to allow the Moon image to be captured within the Earth view sector (off-nadir)
- DC Restore is turned off
- Dual-gain bands gain mode is switched from Auto Gain to fixed High Gain
- Bow-tie deletion is disabled
- The region affected is predicted to be the New Zealand area
