SNPP data outage
Posted: Mon Nov 04, 2024 10:37 am
Dear Direct Broadcast user community,
Greetings from NOAA's Office of Satellite and Product Operations (OSPO). OSPO operates the JPSS satellites (S-NPP, NOAA-20, and NOAA-21) including their Direct Broadcast services.
We wanted to let you know that S-NPP's Direct Broadcast is currently OFF due to a spacecraft geolocation anomaly. Any S-NPP data you may have received from observations 22:15z or later on Nov. 2 should not be used in any operational decisions, models, or forecasts.
Because S-NPP is the tertiary satellite in the JPSS constellation, recovery from this anomaly won't begin until Monday, Nov. 4. S-NPP Direct Broadcast will remain OFF at least until then. Please read the Notice below for further details.
If you have any questions about this anomaly or any other aspect of JPSS Direct Broadcast services, please contact:
Toby Hutchings, Direct Readout Program Manager, NOAA/NESDIS/OSPO <toby.hutchings@noaa.gov>
John Evans, LEO Data Operations Manager, NOAA/NESDIS/OSPO <john.d.evans@noaa.gov>
